So let’s say you like Alicia Silverstone. (Clueless, woot!)
And let’s also say that you enjoy the occasional bout of online shopping.
Did you ever think a day would come when you could bring your love for both together?!? And through social media, no less?
I know, it’s fun and exciting. But it wasn’t always such an obvious pairing (if you could ever call it that), even to the people behind the company. TechCrunch reports that OpenSky had to do a bit of re-modelling to their bidness model to come to this place where shopping meets celebrity endorsements meets Twitter.
It works like this:
“Celebrity curators pick items to recommend to their followers, and OpenSky sources the products from the manufacturers. Followers can buy the products directly from the site.”
You “Follow” people just as you would on Twitter, and lots of the famous faces (or the smart ones, anyway) end up blasting their recommendations on Twitter, their followers being led from one platform to another.
You can sign up through your Facebook account (super useful), but a Twitter account link might be a good idea form them to consider.
Upon registering, the welcoming email explains how you’re able to:
* Build a team of experts from the world’s greatest chefs, stylists, personal trainers, celebrities and tastemakers to do your shopping for you. You can choose up to 10.
* Enjoy unique insight and firsthand knowledge from your team of experts as they recommend for you the products they know and love.
*Sit back and relax while your team gets you access to new exclusive offers on the products they find every week.
*Shop stress-free with our easy 90 day return policy.
Being Ms. Silverstone’s loyal follower (there are already 31,710 of them) will point you in the direction of all the hippie-dippie, vegan, animal-hugging, granola-eating, flour-sac-toting, bamboo utensiling merch you can handle.
You know, if you’re into that sort of thing.
